Alan has over 30 years’ experience in mining, petrochemicals and the oil and gas sectors. He commenced his career with Anglo-American in Zambia & worked in Saudi Arabia for Occidental before becoming a risk advisor for the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate in 1979. Since then he has worked on major contracts for clients such as Mobil, BP, Amerada Hess, Shell, Texaco and, in Newfoundland, on the Hibernia, Terra Nova and White Rose projects. Alan has a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, an MSc in Management Studies and is a Chartered Marine Engineer.
Dr. Nigel Burton
Chief Executive Officer
Nigel has over 25 years’ experience in operational and financial management, debt and equity financing, acquisition and integration of businesses, disposals, IPOs and trade sales. Following over 14 years as an Investment Banker at leading City institutions including UBS Warburg and Deutsche Bank, including as the Managing Director responsible for the energy and utilities industries, Nigel has spent 15 years as CFO of a number of private and public companies, including Navig8 Product Tankers Inc, PetroSaudi Oil Services Limited, Advanced Power AG, and Granby Oil and Gas plc. Nigel is a Chartered Electrical Engineer (FIET) and a Past President of the IET. He has a B.Sc. (First Class Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and a Ph.D in Acoustic Imaging at University College London.
Tej is a Chartered Secretary and has over 19 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry. He has extensive experience in commercial, financial, legal, and governance matters. Prior to joining, Tej worked as a Commercial Manager within the oil and gas sector. He holds a BSc in Economics, a Graduate Diploma in Law and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Company Secretaries. On 3 July 2017 Tej moved from his role as Executive Director to a Non-Executive role on the Board.
Professor Mike Bowman
Mike Bowman retired from BP in March 2011 taking a part-time Professorial Chair in Development & Production Geology at the University of Manchester. He has recently taken up the Chair of the Petroleum Engineering Programme at Texas A&M University, Qatar campus. Mike remains a Visiting Professor at Manchester. In 2012 he was the President of the Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain, an eminent group with a membership of over 5,500. At his retirement he was BP’s Functional and Global Head of Geoscience and also Major Capital Projects Appraisal. He is an expert on integrated reservoir description and prediction and how this is used to better develop and manage subsurface oil and gas reservoirs. In addition to his roles at Qatar and Manchester, Mike also advises and consults for a number of independent oil and service companies, teaching groups and investors as well as teaching external courses and giving lectures on a range of Subsurface topics and the Oil Industry.
